How to permanently delete a customized file type (Studio 2015)

Hi to all,

a simple question.

Is there a way to permanently delete a customized file type after having created it?

I have created a couple of customized XML file types (one of them highlighted in this screenshot):

Well, if I click on "Remove" button the customized file type disappears but, in fact, it remains in the TS 2015 system as it is simply transferred to a "cryptic" folder (I have not understood where to find them):

And, moreover, they appear in the Options > File Type list:

So the question is... Where I should access to permanently delete these file filters in order to avoid that they appear in these lists?

Thank you

Claudio

  • Hi Claudio,

Did you try removing them from the File -> Options? Unless they were plugins (and if you created them I doubt they are... at least I don't believe you are a developer?) I don't understand why they would remain there if you removed them. The only way to get them back after removal is to reimport the sdlftsettings file if you even exported one in the first place.

    Regards

  • Problem finally solved.

After having saved/exported the customized file filters, I have reset the "File types" list to its default settings.

All customized File types disappeared from both lists.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Paul,

I have the same problem: I delete the filters (file types) from File > Options but they still remain there, as Claudio showed in his screenshot.

Resetting the filte types is not an option for me because I have modified most of them, so I would lose all the changes and would need to modify them manually again.

What is the reason for the filters to remain there and how can we definitely remove them, please?

    Thanks,
