Failed to verify document Trados Studio 2014, 2015

At the attempt to do a “verify” on a specific file, not on all files, the following message is issued:

SW configuration:

64-bit operating system

Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1

SDL Trados Studio 2014 Freelance

(SDL Trados Studio 2014 SP2 – 11.2.4422.11)

As well as with

SDL Trados Studio 2015 Freelance

(SDL Trados Studio 2015 – 12.0.4996.3)

HW configuration:

Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz

How can this be addressed?

thanks

  • Hi,

I searched the KB and found this at the top.... have you tried any of the two solutions in here?

  • Dear Paul,

    thank you for your response.

This is a different type of error. The message I get is (as also stated above by Christos):

“Failed to verify document: The process failed to access the file ‘XYZ.xml’ because it is
    being used by another process”.

I have found similar errors in the Knowledge-Base, which however are of different origin or apply to different cases. Thus, the suggested solutions do not work in the present case.

This error occurs only with the files of one specific customer (a big automobile manufacturer), which consist of several xml-files merged together to one single sdlxliff-file. The error occurs usually for the last xml-file in the sdlxliff-package when running "verify" from the editor. However, because the files are packed together, the error brings the entire verify-process to breakdown. (Note: when the "verify"-task is run in batch-mode it works ok. However, it is too time-consuming to correct the document in the batch-mode.)

So far I have tested the following without success:

-Upgrade from SDL Trados Studio 2014 Freelance to 2015
    -Switch off antivirus
-Switch off all Microsoft Office processes, which could use the xml-file
    -Shut-down and reboot
-Uninstall - Reinstall Trados (both, 2014 and 2015)
-Create the same project again in different folder, then copy into the new folder the previously translated sdlxliff-file
-Ceate the same project again in different folder, then re-translating using the translation memory of the previously translated sdlxliff-file.

All the above lead to the suspect that the error arises from an inherent conflict of Trados. It would be great if you could help, since you have better insight as a developer. I can post more details with screen copies if required.
