MESSAGE: This file was created using a file type definition that does not exist on your system (WordprocessingML v. 1)

I've got sdl 2014 & work with someone who has sdl 2015.

When she prepares packages using filter Word (2007-2016) to be able to process documents created in GoogleDoc, I get the following message: This file was created using a file type definition that does not exist on your system (WordprocessingML v. 1).

I can still translate but I cannot use formmating features and I CANNOT SAVE TARGET US, nor FINALIZE nor export, therefore I cannot create a "clean"copy of the document. I appreciate solution since this is a great inconvinient

  • Hi Claudia,

The only solution to this particular problem is to upgrade to Studio 2015. This is a new filetype that only works with Studio 2015 so if you want to be able to do more than just translate the files you will have to upgrade. I'm afraid there is no other solution to this.

    Regards

This is normal behaviour due to the fact that the person using Studio 2015 converted the source files using the new filetype "Microsoft Word 2007-2016", which does not exist in Studio 2014. In fact, this filetype is currently not enabled by default yet in Studio 2015 in order to avoid such compatibility issues.
This means that she must have manually enabled this filetype. The solution consists in disabling this filetype, at least for the projects that are sent to you for further processing.

Please inform her accordingly and ask her to disable this filetype.

  • Hi Paul,

What if the file type is "MemoQ v 1.0.0.0", I have Studio 2014 and I am unable to work with a package prepared on Studio 2017? Is the only solution an upgrade here, too?

  • Hi  ,

Perhaps try downloading and installing the memoQ filetype for 2014 in the appstore?

    appstore.sdl.com/.../

If you do this first and then open the package it might work... I can't recall the version numbers.

Having said that you should still be able to work on the file in the package and create a return package without this app in 2014. You won't be able to create a target file, which would be an mqxliff but if you are working in a package you only need the return sdlxliff filesin the return package anyway.
