Does Trados 2015 support TM merge of different source language?

HI, there,


I am wondering if Trados 2015 support the merge of different source languages? For example, I have a TM A, with source language Chinese and the target language English. Now I have TM B, whose source language is English and the target language is Chinese. I want to merge TM A with TM B. Is it practical?

    You can do this easily by exporting one of the two TMs and importing it into the other one. This will give you a merged TM, which however will still be unidirectional, thus either ZH-EN or EN-ZH. If you want, you can the create an inverted TM for the other direction.

    The answer to the question whether this is practical is individual. From a purely linguistic point of view, one should not merge different language directions. Personally, I would not do it. I would keep the two TMs separate, but assign them both if needed to a translation project using AnyTM.
