Usually the original text column will be placed at the left and the translated right. If you use this layout for long time, you will find your spine and neck will be twisted to right. If I can swap them regularly, the spine and neck can be protected from being damaged for looking at a fixed direction for too long time. Can I do this ? Swap the columns?
Well. It's a good comparison. But I figure when you're sitting behind the steering wheel in a car, you would not always turn your head towards the right. But this happens when you're using the Trados editor. As the translated colomn, where you need to input the translated text, is always at the right side of the computer screen. If you work in this way for enough long period of time, you will find your neck and spine becoming solid and painful.
I think a little bit update or something can fix this, making the two columns swappable if the user selects to do so. In this way after a certin interval of time, I can switch the translated column to the left side of the screen and the source to the right. Now I would turn my neck to the left. And after another interval of time, I can switch it back, if my right side of neck gets tired. Such swapping can keep the sides of user's neck regularly engaged and relaxed, to prevent problem with the spine and neck resulted from turning the neck to a fixed direction for too long time.
That'll make Trados a much HEALTHIER software for all translators around the world.
