    Can you elaborate a little? What do you mean by an SDL link? Can you show a screenshot perhaps?

    Hi Paul,

    thanks for getting back to me :-)

    Oftentimes, when I press Cap + First letter on a new segment, I am redirected to an SDL page. Other times, a set of scattered numbers appears on the ribbon, or simply the letter I type would not appear.

    I've tried with a new file now and, the SDL page has not appeared yet. The scattered numbers have (it's not possible to capture that) or the key wouldn't type the capital letter. If I do insist several times, sometimes the letter finally appears.

    Moreover, the search and find command wouldn't work at all, both from the icon and through Ctrl +H.

    Hi Patrizia,

    It sounds as if you were pressing the Alt key instead of the Shift key, could that be it? Pressing the Alt key causes several numbers and letters (shortcuts) to appear on Studio's upper left corner, then pressing any of those numbers or letters will take you the appropriate window or dialog within Studio.

    I would also investigate if Sticky Keys is enabled in Windows, which causes a key like Alt or Ctrl to be "stuck" after you press the Shift key 5 times in quick succession. I had to permanently disable Sticky Keys because it would often get inadvertently enabled when I left my finger a bit longer than usual on the Shift key. To disable it when it's enabled you would need to press 3 or more of the Sticky Keys at the same time (Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Windows Button).

    And one other thing I always check when my keyboard input is not what I expected, is checking the batteries on my wireless keyboard.

    Hope you find the solution, it sounds annoying!

    Hi Nora,

    thanks for getting back to me.

    I'm actually pressing the Shift key, Sticky keys are disabled, and my keyboard batteries are OK: I only have this problem with Studio 2015, not with other systems nor with Studio 2011.

    Hi Patrizia,

    So I guess you see something like this:

    This is the keyboard activation of the ribbon commands as Nora points out.  Normally you activate this by pressing the Alt key first and then whatever letter relates to the ribbon group commands to get the next level like this.  So here I pressed Alt +H to get this.  Studio 2011 doesn't have this capability so you would never see this effect.

    It does seem as though something is clashing on your keyboard causing your Alt commands to become activated.  I think the best thing to do is log a support ticket and perhaps one of the support engineers will be able to figure out where the problem is coming from on your computer.

    Go to the Knowledgebase;

    Then go to the tab called Solution Finder and now go here;

    Download & Installation Problems
    - I use SDL Trados Studio and/or SDL MultiTerm 2009, 2011, 2014 or 2015
    -- The installation went fine but now I get an error message etc
    --- The problem occurs in (pick the appropriate tool/s)
    ---- None of the articles resolved my problem (if they didn’t!)

    Follow the route for your problem and if there is no answer that helps by the time you get to the end you'll be presented with a form to contact support. Complete all the fields in the form making sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

    Also use the Chrome browser to log the case if you have it; you'll get more success in completing the form.

    Hi Paul,

    Yes, thanks, that's exactly one of the things that happen.
    I did log a support ticket initially, but I was sent an email saying I'm not entitled to support on a free Starter 2015 licence.

    Furthermore, as you can well understand, I cannot make any use of 2015 without Search & Replace functioning.

    I think this is really an installation issue so you are entitled to help with this as just confirmed to me by one of our Support Managers who read your post. So you should be contacted in due course. Hopefully you'll be able to figure out what's going on.
