Font Corruption in SDL Trados 2014

Hi,
I am using SDL Trados Studio 2014 & I can not type certain Sinhala fonts (Iskoola Pota) correctly in Editor View. But these fonts can be typed in MS Office such as MS Word correctly. What I normally do is get external review document and translate and update from external review file. Affected fonts are made of 3 or more Characters. Ex: කො (correctly display in MS Word) but SDL Trados 2014 Editor View incorrectly display it as ො . Can anyone suggest a solution for this please.

    Hi Nadee,

    Have you tried changing the default font in the Studio Editor to match the one you are using when working in Word?  Perhaps this is the problem here?  So go to File -> Editor -> Font Adaptation and then under Custom Language Fonts select your language and change the font as needed.  This only effects what you see in the Editor.

    I tried as you explained by changing Custom Language Fonts (Language – English (Australia) / Font – (default) to my Language i.e Sinhala (Sri Lanka) and Font – Iskoola Pota. After that also font corruption is still exists. I noticed that when I changed default settings to match with my language, Studio is not showing the settings I changed. It always displays default settings when I check the settings second time. i.e. Custom Language Fonts (Language – English (Australia) / Font – (default). Probably If I can fix this issue it will answer the font corruption. Any solution to this is greatly appreciated.
    What I did is as follows
    File -> Option -> Editor -> Font Adaptation -> changed the default settings to my Language settings i.e. from Custom Language Fonts (Language – English (Australia) / Font – (default) to my Language Sinhala (Sri Lanka) / Font – Iskoola Pota -> OK -> Close the Options window -> Editor View - > Translated few strings

    Hi ,

    Thanks for sending me the files, the fonts, the IME for Sinhala/Tamil.  I thought it would be better to come back to this forum because someone else might be able to offer some advice here.  I installed the IME, the fonts and then tested typing with all the different layouts in Word, 2014 and 2017.  The results are all exactly the same for me... but of course my problem is that I haven't got a clue what I'm typing or how to identify a real problem compared to expected output.  So this is what I see when I just run the QWERTY keyboard left to right on all three rows of letters:

    I read in the help document for the IME that if you see those little dotted circles then you should make a change to the type sequence... but that only applied to Tamil.  Confusing for me because I don't see them in Tamil, only in Sinhala and they are consistent across all three applications.

    So I'm after a couple of things (he says hopefully):

    1. Explanation of you how to reproduce the problem based on the input on an EN keyboard.  So which keys should I be pressing, and what you expect to see compared to what you actually see.

    2. Some help from anyone who is expert with IME in these languages and might have an explanation how to resolve the problem (once we know what that is).

    All I can tell so far is that all my applications behave the same way, and that the letters don't seem to be merging to form another character so I'm left with these circles.  I also downloaded and tested another IME (Keyman) and this behaves in exactly the same way.  So far it feels like more of a learning experience for me... so hopefully someone else will have some good idea here.
