Has anyone succeeded in installing of Trados 2007 on a clean Windows 10 machine? With NO previous installation of Trados 2007? For many reasons I need to do that, but I failed...

Unfortunately it installs just SDLX, no chance for me to install Trados 2007. Does anyone know a trick for that, before I start trying to setup a virtual machine?

  • Hi Jerzy,

I've only done this on W8.1 and it works fine.  I have seen at least one user who seems to be working with W10 here:

  • Hi Paul
Thank you for your reply. It is quite unfair from me, I should have posted that here. After having posted I forgot about the story, then on the other day Walter Blaser send me a screenshot of a successful installation on Wind10. So I tried again, however I got only to the splash screen for the start of installation, when I clicked to install the software nothing happened. But I've found the extracted files and started the setup from there, executing it as admin. That worked. So now I have succeeded in installing T2007 on Win10 too.
In the near future I will do that again on my new machine, which is already here and waiting to be used - but I have no time to play with my brand new toy. It is a pity, as it comes with i7 6700k, 24 GB RAM and 256 SSD + 1000 GB HDD. Can't wait to test it, but the customers do not want me to do that.
    Best regards, Jerzy

    I know... damm customers ;-)

Good to know you solved this anyway, probably useful to have something to refer to in case anyone else asks.  I would be quite interested to know why you needed to do this anyway?  Were you working on a 2007 server too?

    Cheers

    Paul

  • No, I just need T2007 for quick and dirty analysis, when a customer asks for that. There is no tool there doing that faster and easier for me. Just run the Workbench with an empty TM, drag & drop the files there and do what you need to do in the meantime. Some minutes later the analysis is there, can be copied from the TXT and send out to the customer. Quick and dirty, but nearly no effort from my side. TBH I think this is the last purpose I'm using it, but it is a damn good one - and the analysis results are better for me than those from Studio. And never (until now) questioned by customers.
    Cheers, Jerzy

You mean Trados for quotes and Studio for working?  Nice to have this ability with your clients.

  • Mostly yes. Or even worse, Transit for quotes, MemoQ for converting, Studio for working.
However, now I have several customers doing analysis in Studio. Luckily they use just the default settings. Would they start to use all the flavours available, I would most probably have to pay on top of the jobs.
