ERROR MESSAGE. "the context is null. could not get the last child"

Just got a pdf from a client  it is their membership magazine, hence a rather colourful and messy PDF. I started translating (haven't finished yet!) and thought I'd do a test "save as" to see how the pdf looks once translated and I got the error message as per above

the context is null. could not get the last child

Any ideas

- what this means

- how I can remedy it?

Client has offered to provide Word doc if I have problems but I was hoping SDL could cope with pdf.

    In general it is always advisable to do a test, when translating converted PDF files, as they tend to make problems.

    Thank you - yes that is why I tested it before I went in medias res..... I am trying to persuade the client to send me a Word document. It would be better for both sides in my opinion. Let's hope they see my point. Besides, their layouters have to reset some of the text anyway as we know German and English sentences don't always end up the same when it comes to size :) Fingers crossed. Great advice, though, I will use this in future (shorter) PDFs with the disabling of hyperlinks.

    Usually I do not let anyone else convert the PDF, but do that myself. Either by exporting directly to Word from Adobe Acrobat (not Reader) or using Abbyy FineReader. For some PDFs also Infix PDF Editor may be used. But in all cases there is a lot of manual work there - and TBH I do not know any PDF converter in the world, which would do the job always so, that no manual work would be necessary.
