I have upgraded to Studio 2015 and get error message translating from EN to NO.

Question

I have a problem with creating projects with target language Norwegian Bokmål. I get the error message "the detected language does not match that expected by the project". I believe the reason is that Norwegian uses several language codes (nb_no, no_no and nn_no)
I can open and translate individual files, just not projects. TMs I use when creating projects are able to find leverage and "pre-translate", I just can't open the files. Again, it is possible to open the files with the "Translate Single Document" function. I have seen a similar issue with another language in a forum where SDL created a fix.

What filetype are you handling? Is it a bilingual filetype where the specific version of Norwegian might already be set?

I checked this in 2011 and the code no_NO is not recognised in either 2011, 2014 or 2015. I can still open the file with the single Document and apply whatever language I wish to the file but the language is not recognised. The correct codes, for Studio, are nb-NO for Norwegian, Bokmål, and nn-NO for Norwegian, Nynorsk. 
 
When you create a Project you don't have the luxury of working without the target language set and you have to specify one. So if you don't have a matching language code you will not be able to open the file for translation. 
 
Now, if I create a project in Studio 2011 and have two target languages, one for Bokmål and one for Nynorsk then 2011 incorrectly adds an no-NO XLF file to both languages and opens them both for translation. This is a bug (based upon consistent logic for the way Studio works), it should not do this at all. It should not allow the file to be added to the project at all because the language code is incorrect. 
 
Now, I believe that no-NO might be used in some cases for plain Norwegian without any specific variant specified even though it is not just NO. But this is not going to work with Studio because you always have to have the variant specified. 
 
So unless the development team change the way Studio works then I'm afraid I think your only option is to change the language codes in your files.

Hi Translator, it's not SDL it's Microsoft. We use the codes defined by your operating system so they are are already there and can vary depending on whether you use WinXP, W7 or W10 for exactly. The variation tends to be the number of available language rather than the codes however. Norwegian has always been this:
