Problems with saving "Target text" file and "export for dual language check" in SDL Studio 2015

Hello,

I am using SDL Studio 2015 - 12.0.4996.3 under Windows 10 Pro.

Since yesterday, I cannot: save "target text file" after completing or during the translation. The error message says

Quote"

Zieltext konnte nicht gespeichert werden. Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt"

End Quote

Sorry for the German language error message - but my SDL Studio language is set to German.

I have received a link from 'live chat' support for solution to this problem, but actually the link doesn't deal at all with the problem I have described above. So unfortunately that was no help at all.

As mentioned above, I have this problem only since yesterday. before that everything was ok. Virus check says that the computer is clean of viruses.

Can someone help here please? Any hint or tip would be most welcome.

Thanks and regards

  • Hi Shyam,

In these cases the best way forward is often this.  To troubleshoot files try these articles:

How to troubleshoot issues with generating your target file in SDL Trados Studio :

How to troubleshoot problematic files :

More often, the solution to these problems is resolved like this:

Open the source file again using the "Translate Single Document" process

    1. Save it to create a single file project
    2. Try to save target now before you do anything.  If it works go onto the next step, but if it doesn't then you need to consider the more advanced trouble shooting steps in the KB article as it may be a problem with the source file
    3. Pretranslate the file using your Translation Memory
    4. Save the target file

If none of that helps, and if you are allowed to share the file you can send me the fully translated sdlxliff and the original source file and I'll happily take a look.
