Cannot open SDL Trados Studio 2015

Hi,

I am a new user and I unfortunately experience a problem with SDL Trados Studio 2015.

Please let me explain:

After initially using a free trial version that expired after 90 days, I finally bought Trados Studio 2015. Upon opening the program a window popped up saying something like “Welcome to SDL Trados Studio 2015 Starter Edition. Subscription License is expired.”

After failing to activate the program via the internet, I was eventually able to successfully activate it off-line. Under licenses in my SDL account, the status changed to "In Use: 1", so I am sure the activation was somewhat successful. However, when I open Trados Studio 2015, I still end up with the same message as before (a window telling me the Starter Edition license is expired). Hence, I cannot open Trados at all.

Should I have deactivated the trail version - even though it had expired - before activating the new full version? I simply uninstalled the program.

What should or can I do to fix this problem? Please help me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Asako

  • Hi Asako,

I looked at your account and I think you're right... you should have deactivated the starter edition prior to activating the Freelance. Your best bet is to contact the licensing team and they will sort it out fairly quickly. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

Just fill in the form and submit it. If you can, use the Chrome browser to log the case, you'll get more success in completing the form, and make sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.
