Community Team message - Thread moved.... why?

Dear SDL Community Team,

Last week, I received a private e-mail from your side informing me about the move of my thread  "Error message while trying to save a 'target text file' in SDL2015" and that I won't be getting any anymore notifications for this thread.

It seems that I have no choice but to accept your decision. But as I am still struggling with the problem, I am somehow missing here the information about the reason which made you decide to move this thread.

1. Was the thread in the wrong forum?
2. Was the question inappropriate for SDL community?
3. Did the question violate against the general rules of netiquette ?
4. Any other reason...?

I am not complaining, but I wish to understand. Because unless I know the reason I cannot avoid making the same mistake (if any, on my side) in future as well. Also otherwise, just as a matter of courtesy I would have expected a bit more information about the background of the decision.

Unfortunately I had to raise this issue here because the team e-mail came from a 'noreply@community.sdl.com' address.
Thanks for your understanding.

Best regards

  • Hello Shyam,

Normally these are moved because they are posted in the wrong forum. You get more visibility when it's in the right place. The same link would have worked because it's automatically mapped, so apart from it now being somewhere else it should make no difference, and if you have your notifications set up for the forums in general you would still get notifications.

So only moved to try and get you more help. Most importantly we don't stop any posts in here, we just try to make sure they are in the most appropriate place for users to get a response.

However, I tried to look for your post just now because I seem to recall responding to it too, but I can't find it at all!! So will come back to you in due course.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Shyam,

As a sort of test I moved this too... into the General forum as it's not really product related. This seems to have worked ok and hopefully you will see it. I also noted that I don't have an opportunity to write anything... only to check a box that sends you a message telling you it was moved.

    Regards

    Paul
