target language view error

I have a pdf file that saved as docx to make necessary changes like text not being recognized in ocr before translating. I followed the advise of translating the document from docx. Studio was working fine and I was able to view the translated document when clicking on "view the target document" option on the top right of Studio. A day later, I tried to open it again to review the target document and to continue my work however this time I got an error message: "could not find a part of the path C:\Users\bondt\AppData\Local\Temp\SDLTempFileManager\axz1nas3.wii\InitializeTransformResources635917513317326892."

What is the best way to fix this? Studio lets me continue to translate but I am concerned that I will not be able to view the target language document.

Thanks,

Talia

  • Hi Talia,

This can happen if you have software that is cleaning up your computer, temp files in particular, when working with Studio. There is probably a couple of solutions that would work. But the most reliable is going to be that you create a new Project and pre-translate it with your Translation Memory. If your Translation Memory is not up to date for some reason then you can create one based on the contents of your SDLXLIFF and then update it with that.

You might also try creating a new Project and then replace the sdlxliff in your new project folder with the original. I'm not 100% that would work, but it might do. It's easy to test and you won't lose anything.

Just make sure you back up your existing sdlxliff somewhere safe before you try these things in case you need it again. If you're not sure about any of this drop me an email at pfilkin@sdl.com and I can try to walk through it with you over skype.

    Regards
