Can´t see any Fields/Values in my TM after importing sdlxliff bilingual files with "Use information from bilingual file to update system fields" checked.

When I import a sdlxliff bilingual files from a colleague into my TM (that has exactly the same settings, fields and values as his TM), checking the "Use information from bilingual file to update system fields" option, my TM gets updated with all his translation units along with his user name but the Fields/Values are completely empty (they shouldn´t). He can see in his TM all Fields/Values that he set when he created the project but I can´t.  Any explanation or solutions? Thanks.

  • Thank you for your reply Paul. I work with SDL 2014. I had assumed, wrongly from what I see, that the bilingual file contained all the information from the project, including custom fields. I didn´t know I had to set every single custom value again. May I ask for your advice on what would be quickest and most efficient way of sharing files (including the custom fields)? We are a group of independent translators with freelance 2014-15 SDL licences who work for the same clients and with the exact same TMs (about 35 subject-based TMs with many custom fields (Client, Project number, description...) that contain important information for our work) and who need to exchange all the translations we do to keep our personal TMs updated with each other work. The Import function was good in that it allowed us to import many files at the same time. It would be very impractical and time-consuming resetting the custom fields for every single file we want to import as we are talking dozens monthly. So, apart from exchanging every single whole Project folder, opening them and running the Update Main Translation Memories Batch task, is there any other (less time-consuming) way to exchange our bilingual files but also keep the custom fields? Thank you very much in advance. Beatriz
