How to create a bilingual file from a sdltm / Tmx

Hello people,

I have got lots different translation memories that contains between 300k- 800k segments.

I need to create bilingual files from them.

I used SDLTmConvert but the program can just handle max 50k segments.

Could someone help me?

I have read:

Thank you in advance

  • Hi Daniel,

Just to clarify as both people are offering sensible suggestions for you here. You asked for a way to convert an SDLTM or a TMX to a bilingual file. Presumably you mean an SDLXLIFF when you say a bilingual file.

The SDLTMConvert application, if you use the free version, can handle an SDLTM up to 50k segments only. If you purchase the Professional version then it is unlimited and will handle any size SDLTM. This will solve your problem as you can split the SDLTM into XLIFF files.

The suggestion from Edmond was that you open the TMX in Studio as a translatable file. This will automatically get you the SDLXLIFF. But to do this you need the TMX filetype. It's a good idea, but you would really need to split the TMX with a text editor because 300k - 800k segments is far too large for Studio to handle in the Editor.

I think SDLTMConvert, using the paid version, is the way to go,

    Regards

    Paul
