Studio 2009 displaying translation results only partly

Hi everybody, my Studio 2009 started to display translation results only partly although Project settings and Results Display settings are normal.

For example it shows the result in the target segment but without displaying the two language versions in the result window, so that I can't see the differences.

A TM expert from my customer tried to help me and checked my settings (Project settings and Results window settings), which are normal, she said, so she couldn't solve the problem.

Besides, when I make a research to find how I translated something a few hours/days ago, the search function can't find what I saved.

I've been using Studio 2009 for a few years now and it always worked well, so now I'm confused.

I hope someone can help me here!

  • Hi Paul,

Thank you very much for your answer, but I am showing the correct window for TM results.

The problem is this window displays most results but not all of them: some results are displayed in the target segment to be edited but not in the Translation Results window, so that I can't see the differences between the source segment to be translated and the source segment stored in the TM. It is very annoying.

Until now I got round the problem by doing concordance searches, but in the long run it is very impractical and it makes me lose a lot of time.

I hope you have the solution for this!

    Best regards,

  • Hi Anne-Laure,

If you have a result already in the target segment and your TM does not have the same result then there are two reasons for this I can think of and none of them are a problem with the software:

    1. Your document was pre-translated with a different TM
    2. You have added your own TMs and given them priority over the original

I think it might help if I could see your screen while you are getting this so we can investigate a little, but I truly doubt the problem is with the software putting results into the target segment that are not related to your working TM without something being amiss.

Can we arrange a Skype session perhaps? If so please drop me an email at pfilkin@sdl.com and we can set this up.

    Thanks

    Paul
