Translating the content of macros (Visual Basics script) within Excel files

Hi all,

I’m wondering if there’s a way to have Trados Studio (I’m using 2015) recognize the content of macros (Visual Basics script) within an Excel file.

In short, I have to translate in Trados a fillable form created in Excel, which contains a button that allows the user to send the form by email once it’s filled. There is a long macro associated with this button. For example, one part of the macro dictates that if the user attempts to send the form without having filled it properly, there is a pop-up that advises them that a certain field cannot be left empty. Another part of the macro contains the text that will appear in the email. I need to translate not only the form, but also the text that appears in the pop-ups and in the email. Is there a way to have this text  show up in Trados (but only the text portions, not the code)?

My current workaround is to open the macro in Visual Basics and copy-paste it into Word. After I translate the Word document in Trados, I will have to go change the macro in Excel. So it’s quite a lenghty process; if there’s any way to have Trados detect the text instead, it would be much faster.

Thanks,

Christine
