Below this one in 'related' you'll see a post from October 2014 where it's stated that this functionality isn't there....
It seems it's still not there, I've also searched for it several times already. It's hard to believe this basic part of the tool is not functioning...

Hi Dmitry, potentially we do not have yet full split merge functionality in the Alignment view.
However we will continue to add these functions and I expect we will add split & merge functionality.
However we are training to automate the process as much as possible and you could potentially use the quality score to import automatically segments with a good score and discard segments that might not match.
I will try to get a date on when split and merge will be added.
(after that nothing more was added afaict; there's also a post from later, with the same question for 2015)
