How do I get my text to autopropgate and/or produce matches?

Dear all:

 I am new to Trados and have read all the workbooks, done the samples and taken the exam... thought I understood the basics until I purchased the software and of course have no TM whatsoever unlike the lovely sample TM that came for practice!!! I am trying to use the software and create my own TM slowly as I go but despite confirmations of each segment as I translate as I go along repeated phrases and texts do not appear as matches , fuzzy or otherwise and there is no auto propagation! When I do a concordance search the TM seems to recognize straight away that matches exists but does not offer anything up. I am therefore translating each line anew and the software is really of no help to me at all. Please tell me its just a case of my settings? I have played with the options box etc etc.

    Hi Nina,

    I'm sure this is just a question of your settings.  The first thing to check would be your automation settings.  So go to File -> Options -> Editor -> Automation and you'll find a bunch of options in there that control how translations are automatically applied.

    Then underneath this you'll find options for Auto-propagation, so in File -> Options -> Editor -> Auto-propagation and review how this behaves.

    I think these are fairly clear, but if you still can't get this to work let us know.
