Error when generating target of Word 2016 docs: "Namespace Manager or XsltContext needed. This query has a prefix, variable, or user-defined function"

Question

Hello everybody, 
 I'm trying to generate the target file of two rather complex Word 2016 documents (dotx and docx) with numerous content controls. (I am using the Word 2016 file type in the latest release of Studio 2015.) 
 Now I keep getting this error: "Namespace Manager or XsltContext needed. This query has a prefix, variable, or user-defined function" 
 Is there a chance to solve this problem (preferably today) or will I have to copy and paste the translation from Studio into Word?

Hi Holger, 
 
This looks to be like an issue. This is because it contains custom xml that uses namespace prefixes. 
 
As a workaround: 
A) Remove custom XML from Word document (Word 2013: File > Info > Check for Issues > Inspect document) before translating. 
B) Save the file as .doc
