Service ‘Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagement’ could not be started.

I was working in Studio 2015. Ever since I installed SR2, I get the following error message:

Service ‘Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagement’ could not be started.

The secondary error message is the following:

The requested service is not available: Sdl.TranslationStudio.Common.TerminologyProvider.IterminologyProviderService.

I could not find a solution in the Knowledge Base (there is one that lists four other secondary error messages). I have uninstall the suite of products (both SDL Trados Studio and SDL Multiterm) and reinstalled to no avail.

FYI: My computer is running Windows 7.

What do I need to do to get Studio working again?

  • Hi Therese,

Please can you try uninstalling Studio once again (painful I know... sorry) and after doing it can you delete or rename the following:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0
    c:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4\

Then also rename this file, projects.xml, it's in here:

    c:\Users\pfilkin\Documents\Studio 2015\Projects\projects.xml

    Now reinstall Studio.

You will have to add your projects back in again one at a time after doing this just by opening the sdlproj file in each project folder. But as you do this check it's all still working as expected.

If, after doing this you still have a problem then please log a case. For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

    http://support.xl8.one/

Just fill in the form and submit it. If you can, use the Chrome browser to log the case, you'll get more success in completing the form, and make sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

    Regards

    Paul

  • You're a lifesaver, Paul! I've been trying to fix this problem since last night and finally was able to open Studio after deleting and renaming many files and reinstalling several times! Thanks!
