Error message when I try to run SDL TRados

Hello dear someone,

When I try to run my SDL Trados Studio I get the following error message; An unexpected error has occuresd while loading the application plug-ins. MS.International.IO.PAckagingSIgnedXml.GetNetFxSecurityRegistryValue(System.String.Int64) And  then a lot of strings and information

Could you please tell me what the problem is and what can I do to solve it?

  • Hi Barbro,

    Try the following:

    Go to C:\Users\[User_Name]\AppData\Local\SDL
    - delete/rename the SDL Trados Studio and ProjectApi folder

    Go to C:\Users\[User_Name]\AppData\Roaming\SDL
    - delete/rename the SDL Trados Studio folder

Go to C:\Users\[User_Name]\Documents\Studio 2011 (or the version of Studio that is causing the failure)
    - rename the Studio 2011 folder to Studio 201#_Old (where # is the number appropriate to the version of Studio)

    Hope it helps,
    All the best,
    Ali :)

  • Hi Alison, I really feel I am skating on thin ice...

Being a bit desperate I found a chat where I got the advice to show hidden files, rename Basesettings.xml, Plugincache.xml and Usersettings.xml and then run a repair installation under Programs and features.

This being done - nothing has changed. I still get the same error message when I try to open my Trados. Now that I read your message (thanks a lot) I do not find these files in the User folder unfortunately.

In case I find them, how do I know which version of Studio is causing the failure? If I delete the folders as you suggest above, do I still have Trados in the machine again or do I have to reinstall it? How do I do that?

I wish I had an IT department to which I could hand over the problem, but being a freelance I have to be my own IT department.

    Best regards
