SDL Studio 2015 SR2 - Multiple issues relating to TM, update, and project management

Studio 2015 SR2 used to work fine on my windows 10 (x64). However, after an operation system reset, that *team spirit* seems to have evaporated. Tried re-installing the Studio but to no effect at all. The symptoms discovered so far (there might be more) are as below:

1. No file-based TM can be added

Error message: "The current parameters are not compatible with the Translation Provider Uri Schema"> This happens whenever I try to load or open a file-based TM. Tried the "Add Any TM" option, same error message. However, Legacy TMs can be opened & upgraded, though.

2. No project can be opened

Error message: "An error occured whilst trying to determine the file version". This even happens to newly created projects, so it cannot be indeed a compatibility issue.

3. Software update acting wild

Made a few attempts in a row to update the software, but only got a few very inconsistent results: the software may randomly report that "Already up-to-date", Update server not found, Update error (some very lengthy message that makes no sense at all), "Some update files have already been download, download again?" (regardless of whether I choose to re-download or skip the files, the update is always reported to be Successful).

These are pretty much all. Please help.

  • Hi Suo,

I'd recommend you uninstall the software altogether, then also make sure this folder is deleted:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0

Also make sure you are not using Project Templates imported from previous versions.

If this doesn't help when you reinstall then I'd recommend you contact support and ask them to help you with the installation. For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

    http://support.xl8.one/

Just fill in the form and submit it. If you can, use the Chrome browser to log the case, you'll get more success in completing the form, and make sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

    Regards
