Can't open word document

Question

Dear all, 
 I want to open a single document for translation and I get the following error message: 
 
 'the file is locked or open in another application.' 
 
 As far as I can tell the file is neither locked nor open. Can anyone help?

 I don't know what version of windows you're running but if it's W7 then there are two views in the task manager. I forget what they are called... but one is a basic one that shows the open applications, and the other tab is a list of the open processes. Make sure you look in the one with the open processes. That error message is very clear I think. 
 Failing that a reboot of your computer would probably clear it too.
