Why can't I finalize my project?

I am using the Trados integration with XTRF. The project manager uploaded the return package, but the finalization cannot be completed because of the following error messages. I understand this is already an issue that has been discussed on ProZ, but I am hoping for a quick fix. The project contains 27 documents. All source documents were in Word.

Also, oddly enough, the es-US (target) folder for the project contains all 27 target language Word documents. Does this mean that the finalization actually took place? I am worried that the files that are present are not the finalized (signed-off) files. Please help!

  • It seems that the target folder does not contain all 27, but rather 26 target files. We'll keep working on the problem file, but if anyone has comments, please feel free to respond!
  • Hi Linda,

It sounds as though the target sdlxliff for one of the files is corrupted for some reason.  Can you open the sdlxliff that won't save separately as a single file project and save it from there or do you get the same error message?

Do you have the original source file?  To troubleshoot files try these articles:

How to troubleshoot issues with generating your target file in SDL Trados Studio :

How to troubleshoot problematic files :

More often, the solution to these problems is resolved like this:

    • Open the source file again using the "Translate Single Document" process
    • Save it to create a single file project
    • Try to save target now before you do anything.  If it works go onto the next step, but if it doesn't then you need to consider the more advanced trouble shooting steps in the KB article as it may be a problem with the source file
    • Pretranslate the file using your Translation Memory
    • Save the target file

If none of that helps, and if you are allowed to share the file you can send me the fully translated sdlxliff and the original source file and I'll happily take a look.
