Is there a way in Trados Studio to get a wordcount from the Target language?

Yes, you can save the target document and get a wordcount then, but specially with "exotic" file types this is not always easy.

And moreover, I would need a way to eventually get that number programmatically.

Any ideas? (Besides going through the XLIFF and count it there?)

  • Hi Everyone,

It's been 6 months since this has been posted, but I will be releasing ver. 1 of my plug-in.

    Here are some screenshots.

    1. You can select the plug-in from the batch tasks (it is called "Target Word Count"):

    2. Here are the settings:

    - You can count words in both Source and Target (select which one you want from the radio button)

    - If you want to do a line count, select "Calculate per line" and enter the character count per line in the box (in my example it is 55)

    - "Include spaces" is only used when you want to do a line count

    - Enter rates into the grid and click "Save Rates" to save an xml file so you can reload settings in other projects

    Any feedback would be appreciated!
