Converting code to tags

Hello all,

I have an HTML file that I've run through studio, and most of the tagging has been picked up by the HTML filter and does not display in the editor. However, some coding has snuck its way through. This coding is around 30-40 characters contained within the traditional <>. I'm trying to find a way to convert that coding to tags to facilitate the translation process. I've tried navigating to Project Settings and then playing around with adding regular expressions to various spots under "File Types" and "Embedded Content Processors" but I can't see to get this to work.

The regular expression I've tried using is: <[^>]*>

I'm using Trados 2015.

Can someone give me some sort of a process for converting this coding to tags? I've tried following along a couple of tips provided on the ProZ forum, but my version of Trados doesn't seem to match the instructions provided there.

Thank you!

Alaina

  • Hello Alaina,

    It would be helpful to see a sample of this code. There could be various reasons for this so it would help to see what you're dealing with?

    Thank you

  • Thank you so much for the response, Paul! Here is a sample of the coding below that was not picked up by Trados as coding.

    By the way, I am watching the e-conference copy of your seminars from the ATA conference -- really great stuff!

  • Hello Alaina,

    ok - I used this in a made up file to see what would happen.  My file looks like this:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
    <body>
    <h1>Community question</h1>
    <p>HTML tagging test</p>
    <iframe src="//flex.msn.com/mstag/tag/1f215bb1-cc7f-42f2-8257-ced33fc32327/analytics.html?dedup=1&domainId=369073&type=1&actionid=263953" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="1" height="1" style='visibility:hidden;display:none'> </iframe>
    </body>
    </html>

    When I just open this in Studio I see this:

    So I think I need a bit more info to be able to reproduce your problem here?  Can you share the actual file perhaps?

    Regards

    Paul

    pls. glad you like the recordings... I haven't heard them but did wonder if they'd be useful for anyone!

  • Hi Paul,
    I can't share the file unfortunately, though I pulled my own HTML file from the page I was asked to provide a quote on, and the file read correctly by Trados with no extraneous coding. I don't know if it was a problem with the browser from which the original HTML came (I think it came from Safari, and I'm running on a PC?) Who knows, but glad it worked now!

    I'm just starting to get into some of the more advanced features of Trados and working with web localization, so slowly building a context. I'll be attending the Trados Road Show in Chicago, and plan to bring lots of questions :)

    Thank you very much for the direction and troubleshooting help!

    Best,
    Alaina
  • No problem... glad it sorted itself out! Enjoy Chicago!
