I would like to exclude locked segments from the "Not Translated" character count at the bottom of the [Editor] window, so that I know how much work I have left to do. How do I do this?

Hello Patricia,
Unknown said:You proposed changing the status of the locked segments to "translated." That enters the segments in my TM, though, right?
Wrong. Although if you use the confirm command to do this then of course it will. But if you just select all these segments and right-click change the status without any update command then all you do is ensure that they are considered when counting the work that is left to do. Or maybe use the sdlxliff toolkit for example, as this would let you change the status of them all in one go more easily.
Unknown said:You also mention that you can exclude locked segments from the analysis. Are you talking about the analysis in the Reports section that is generated when the file is imported and that gives you a breakdown into perfect matches, etc.?
I was... but the same applies to the WIP report which is probably what you're after:
Give that a try and see if it'll deliver what you wanted. There are quite a lot of options in there, including how to handle locked segments, and this may save you a lot of messing around.
Regards
Paul
