Reconstructing a package

Question

A month ago I accepted a package from a client, translated it, constructed a return package and sent the return package back. 
 Then I moved the entire folder into an archive folder. The client has come back to me with a query about the package. 
 I went to open the project and I found that although I can open it, there is nothing in the target, just the source Japanese on the left. It's as if it had never been translated. 
 I have the sdlrpx file that I sent to this client. Is it possible to reconstruct this package in some way using the return package? And as a less urgent inquiry, how did this happen so I can avoid it in future?

Well... yes, that would be true. But in this case I do think it's very unlikely if you were saving the file as you worked. I hope you find it somewhere anyway. Wasn't it in the return package?

What files and folders did you archive? 
 
On the return package. yes, just unzip it (add a .zip and it'll extract like any zip) and you'll find the bilingual files in there.

Hi Dan, we work directly on the sdlxliff. So if you saved it, it would in there. If you can't find it, or the return package didn't contain what you needed, perhaps you can recover the translation from your TM?
