How do I recover a Trados Freelance 2007 licence?

Hi,

I am planning on upgrading from Trados Freelance 2007 to Trados 2015, but a few years ago I lost one of the 2 licences. Can anyone tell me how I can recover the second one please?

Thank you.

  • Hi Paul,

thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I don't have the option Force return on my account.

Here is what I see in my account, plus the Return Licence button on the right hand side. (I don't understand exactly what each of the fields below mean either in terms of the figures in the boxes)

When I click Return licence though, here is what I can see:

Could you please advise what I can try further and what those figures represent? I only know I bought 1 licence with 2 activation keys (1 as a backup), and I have a feeling that I am now running on the backup one (the extra activation key), but when reading the extra activation pop-up window, it tells me that I can use that until SDL Support sorts out my main licence. Where can I find that support, as I cannot see anything but a paid option or this forum. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Raluca,

ok - this is probably because you still have one available to you. I don't think you actually purchased two licenses. If I recall correctly the reason for there being two licenses was to avoid the need for users getting stuck if anything went wrong with their licensing... and this happened a lot in those days. So I think this option won't be available to you until you have used the second one as well and have no option but to force return.

The self-service option wasn't available in the days of Trados 2007, it was implemented after we launched Studio.

If you think I have this wrong then I think your best course of action is to clarify this with the licensing team. For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

    http://support.xl8.one/

Just fill in the form and submit it. If you can, use the Chrome browser to log the case, you'll get more success in completing the form, and make sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

thank you very much for your support. This is what I will probably do. I will contact the licencing team. Now I understand why the articles here didn't help me. Because that option wasn't available with 2007. I had a career break, and now I am coming back to a totally new world. Which is great. Studio 2015 looks very promising. I can't wait to start using it!

    All the best,
    Raluca
