How to split QA message window into two i.e. in one for showing QA messages and the other for CM/TM matches display

Hallo,

I am using Trados Studio 2015 SR2.

While in translation mode - one sees a window between the "tools option"(top) and the editor window (bottom). This window either displays QA verification messages or CM/TM matches.

My question: Can I split this window to show both, the QA verification messages and CM/TM matches at the same time?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

Best regards

  • Of course, no problem. You can split the GUI of Studio nearly full and place on as many screens as you wish.

To do so, click on the arrow pointing down beside the pin in the QA messages window:

Chose "Floating", then click the blue line with the name of the window with the left mouse button and drag the window to a desired position, while keeping the mouse button pressed. When you release the button, the window will be placed where it was. The "shadows" which appear while moving the window show you the position where it will be docked, when dropped now.

  • Hi Jerzy,

    Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I don't see any arrow besides the pin in the QA messages window.

To show it to you, I made  a screen snippet by using the Windows "Snipping tool" but I can't find the option to paste that snippet here (like you did in your mail above ;-)). I then pasted the snippet into a MS-Word file and tried to paste (as suggested by the tool bar here using the "ctrl + v" key combination and paste it here - it simply wouldn't work.  But somehow I seem to be talking now about a totally different issue rather than what I had started with - namely to the split screen.

Probably it is again only a set up issue and probably it would work if I switched from German to the English Tool bar version of the Studio. At least this was the case when you helped me with the SDL Multiterm  settings (with View) about 2 days ago. There also it worked only after I had once switched into English version.

B.t.w. the German Multiterm version still doesn't show all six options of (View/Ansicht) for me even though I had deleted all.xml files - except the one as you had suggested. But again, I am drifting away from today's the main subject, so I will leave it for now. Only that it is quite frustrating to note that the default settings of one and the same software can be so language dependent and - of all things so different!!.

Jerzy, thanks anyway for your kind help.
I'll be coming back to you and Paul for another Studio issue tomorrow.
    Best regards
    Shyam
  • Please use the "Use rich formatting option" below the answer window:

Then use the button labeled "1":

    German Multiterm:

So maybe you use the Datei -> Setup -> Benutzerprofile to reset the user profile and maybe also reste MT fully by deleting the settings files in User name / AppData and so on...
