How to handle quarkxpress files

Does anybody has experience in working with quarkxpress files in studio 2015? Are their any known issues? Or do you have any tips how to prepare them the best way for translation?
Thank you Jutta

  • Hi Jutta,

Copy Flow is good, but you can also work with the tagged text files from Quark itself if this is what you have been given... or if you have a copy of Quark Express. Studio 2015 has a "QuarkXPress Export" filetype built in, so if the file is *.xtg or *.tag then you can handle them out of the box.

    Regards

  • I think the advantage of CFG is, that the stories are exported in one batch and numbered, similar to what a Story Collector for PageMaker did. TBH I did not translate any QXP files for years now, my last version of QXP was 7.something and at that time CFG was the only option - and it worked very fine. Since then (so more or less since 10 years) the demand for QXP has dropped dramatically, it seems like InDesign has replaced that program more or less completely.
