GT Autosuggest and Studio 2015

Hi

I am now using Studio 2015 SP2. Previously I worked with Studio 2014 and used Google Translate Autosuggest.

Ever since I upgraded my Studio version, GT Autosuggest does not appear in my Plug In list and therefore cannot use it.

Can someone tell me if there is any way I can somehow load it again?

Thank you

Maria

  • Hi Maria,

You can use AutoSuggest with any MT Provider you have enabled.

So if you add the Google MT provider to your list if TM providers then you'll get autosuggest from there too.

However, if you are referring to the AppStore application called "Google Translate AutoSuggest" which worked without you needing to have a Google Account at all then I'm afraid this is no longer available.  Google changed the way they made this possible and the developer was unable to implement this in a way that also satisfied the terms of use for Google.

So you need to create an account for using Google as an MT Provider and then you will get the suggestions automatically.  No need for the separate app.

    Regards

  • Thank you very much Paul.
Yes I was referring to the AppStore application.... so I got my answer :(
and yes I have set up the AutoSuggest Options as you have sent them, though I do not have the RegexMatch/AutoSuggest Provider option. Is this a "downloadable" application?

Setting up a Google account needs an API key and has a fee, right? I remember I had tried it in the past, but there was a question there which put me into thought, and did not proceed.

    Regards,
    Maria

Yes it is.  It's a very cool application for all kinds of things... you can download it here (it's free):

Yes, there is a fee for this.  It's charged by the character, $20 per million characters:

This isn't very expensive, but there is still a cost.  If you work with supported language pairs you can have the same benefit using SDL Language Cloud which offers 600,000 characters per month for free:
