Failutre to import changes by reviewer

I can see from various posts, that many have had problems with updating a reviewer’s file. It hasn’t really happened to me before, but now it keeps happening, and it’s very annoying.

The workaround with copying described under ”detour” in Paul Filkin’s ”Multifarious” works in most cases. However, it’s time-consuming and detracts from the otherwise excellent feature. If you have to spend a lot of time inputting changes, you might as well just use the old fashioned ‘track changes’ feature in word, but you can’t do that once you have created a review-file.

And one thing the people behind Trados might think of doing would be to make the review-format – the table – convertible to a normal Word-format so that you could at least use that if all else fails because in most cases you are already in a hurry and stressed and don’t have a lot of time to faff around with workarounds so you end up having to input every single change manually. Not too many linguists are born IT nerds, and while we love translating, we hate it when the system lets us down.

Don’t you agree?
