No word count for JSON files in SDL Trados 2015?

I upgraded from SDL Trados Freelance Plus 2014 to 2015. I did this on one laptop which operates windows 10 and one my old one which still operates on Windows 7. The Windows 10 laptop shows me JSON file word count (important as I base my invoice on that) and the Windows 7 laptop doesn't. Any idea why? Thanks.

  • Hi Sabine,

The wordcount in Studio is not dependent on the type of file you are translating. Forgive me as I don't know how experienced you are with the software, but did you run a wordcount batch task for this file on your W10 laptop?

    Regards

  • to answer your first question - I had a few online courses with SDL 2014 and not really done a lot of reading the manual since [:S] found how to run word count separately after your post, thank you! However, it still didn't fix the fact that the report doesn't show how much of the text was pre translated (the analysis bit) - I have a deal with my client that if I get repetitions in a text from another text he gets a discount. But now I can't really see that at a glance:

Or, do you think this has something to do that I translated the first few files on the w10 laptop and then copied all the files across to the w7 laptop ? Is that the possible reason for the report and word count not working? Is there a trick to successfully transfer termbase, translation memory etc?

Another question: It appears that SDL2015 saves new translations into the (old) 2014 folders - is that an advantage, really? It confuses me as I was looking in my sdl2015 folders for everything. Or did I muddle this up with the copying of files across from one laptop to another? I know it's a bit silly to ask you questions when you are not seeing what I am seeing but thought you might be able to help.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated!
