Urgent help required to open XLIFF file with hexadecimal problem...

Question

Trados expert would be very very welcome. Sigh. Got an XLIFF file created in Trados 2015 which won't open and I get this error: 
 '.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 53734, position 59. 
 
 I was working on it, saving regularly but yes - my bad - not all the lines were confirmed. But I am sure the data is there in the file. 
 I'm absolutely sure there is a solution as these websites show but if someone proficient in Trados and used to handling XML could help me quickly sort the file and render it loadable, I would be extremely grateful. (I could send it over)

 Thanks and hoping for some helpful person ! I am currently rushing around and a little difficult to stop and download and process all the steps listed above. Rich

If this is still open the other, easy way, to find it as the line and column often don't match what's in the file as they are sometimes coming from different locations in the program is to drag and drop the file into Firefox. This browser reports the invalid characters in a nice easy way to find them in the file and then you can correct them.
