Information message displays when adding new termbase: "The default termbase has been changed so the languages have been changed. Check that the new languages are correct."

Attempting to add a termbase displays the following Information message: "The default termbase has been changed so the languages have been changed. Check that the new languages are correct."

Although I can add termbase(s) to the translation project by clicking 'OK' in the Information dialog and the source text indicates terms are recognized in the termbase (along with the menu option: 'Add new term' to the termbase being available), the Termbase Search window displays: "No termbase open/No results available" for all projects.

I have tried resetting Studio by adding an underscore '_' to the end of the relevant Studio folder names; however, the problem remains unresolved.

Hoping someone can help resolve this critical issue.

Kind regards, Antony

I am not sure I understand what is going on here.

First, let me point out that the message you quote "The default termbase ..."is normal behaviour. It is displayed every time you add a termbase to inform you that the languages have been adjusted to match the language pair of your project.

You mention that the "Termbase Search" window displays "No termbase open" but that term recognition works. Did I understand this correctly? I ask because it does not make sense, if no termbase would be open, the Term Recognition also would not work.

Can you please precise what exactly is your problem?

    Thanks.
    Walter

  • As Walter has said, the message you're getting isn't an error, so you can simply ignore it.

Regarding the Termbase Search window, could there be a confusion here between the Termbase Search window (where you enter a term that you would like to search for) and the Term Recognition window (where you see  a list of all the recognized terms for the active segment)?

To make sure you're seeing the Term Recognition window, check the bottom of the Termbase Search window and see if there's another tab next to it that says Term Recognition. If it's there, click on it to select it.

If it isn't, go to the View menu and select Term Recognition.

    Best,

    Nora

  • Hi Walter

Thank you very much for your reply, which in conjunction with Nora Diaz's reply, has resolved my issue.

The Termbase Search window was open/displaying instead of the Termbase Recognition window.

I have no recollection of closing the Termbase Recognition window; therefore, I confused the Information dialog displayed when adding a new termbase:

"The default termbase has been changed so the languages have been changed.

Check that the new languages are correct."

for an error message because I always use the same source and target languages, which never change.

Thank you again for your prompt reply. Problem solved!

    Regards,

    Antony

  • Hi Nora

Thank you very much for your reply, which in conjunction with Walter Blaser's reply, has resolved my issue.

The Termbase Search window was open/displaying instead of the (closed) Term Recognition window.

I merely confused the below Information dialog displayed when adding a new termbase:

"The default termbase has been changed so the languages have been changed.

Check that the new languages are correct."

for an error message because I always use the same source and target languages, which never change.

Thank you again for your prompt reply. Problem solved!

    Regards,
