Unable to update txml source file from external review

I have used a txml file as source in sdl studio 2014.

File was pre-populated source -> target and then exported to bilingual Word for translation outside Studio (unavoidable workaround).

I now have my translated MS Word file. When I select the Update from external review process, the source txml file does not appear in the panel to update. (opening the file in the editor and going directly to Review-> Update from External review also does not offer the updating workflow).

Would anyone have any idea why this would be? (the source txml appears without problem in the Editor and Files panel themselves) - it simply is not there in the update from external review pane.

thanks in advance for any advice offered.

  • Hi Kate,

I had to check with support and they don't seem to have come across this before, neither have I. If you recreate the project from the TXML, export for external review and immediately try to update do you still have this problem?

If not I think I'd copy the target column from the word file you got back into the target column of a new export and then update that. Perhaps this would resolve the issue.

Another thing work trying perhaps before you run the update task, is try resetting the window layout... just guessing really but perhaps something got messed up that affecting the view?

If it happens for all projects then I'd suggest the standard I think and do a quick reset. Just rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11.0.0.0

    Quite a baffling one...

    Regards
