Hi!

I have got the next problem...

I started to work with Trados with .indd files. Then the client needs .idml files. At first I had the files on my PC, but the I moved everything to a USB memory, just in case. Since then, I can't "save as" to get the .idml files -- well, I can with some files, but not all. I keep getting the same window (see image below -- it's in Spanish though.)

The project (a 200-pages book) is dued on September 5th and I am starting to panic, because I am to send .idml files back.

Does someone know what is the problem...?

Thanks!

  • I guess moving the files back to the first folder wouldn't solve this, right?

I'd try it first thing, yeah.

    How do I pre-translate then?

    Just follow Paul's procedure.

Is there a way to do all the segments at once...? The book is splitted up in different files (10).

Just ensure all translated semgents are confirmed in your actual project and so when you pre-translate files in the new project, all segments will be pre-translated using the content of your TM.

  • Just to elaborate on this a little in case it's the process you're not sure of:

    1. Go to the Projects View, so you see all your Projects listed
    2. Select the Project you're interested in and then click on Batch Tasks in the Home Ribbon
    3. The drop down has a task called Pretranslate Files... click on that
    4. Click Next and then make sure all 10 of your files are selected (they should be as you activated the task from the Project)
    5. Click Next and then I would drop the Minimum Match value in the next screen to 98%.  It shouldn't be necessary but I always find this ensures a complete job in case of any funnies along the way.  Leave it 100% if you prefer.
    6. Then Finish

    Regards

  • Hi again, Paul,

Thanks for your explanation. This is actually my first project with Trados and didn't have time to get familiar with it before starting.

I have the Starter version though, and I am concerned the 5,000 term memory allowed might not be updated (I think it run out before I could finish translating).

I am thinking on uninstalling + installing Trados again. Could this work? Would I have problems with the license?
