Does the sample project count towards the five language pairs I can have in the freelance version of Studio 2015?

I recently purchased a Studio 2015 upgrade license and then installed Studio 2015. I have decided not to activate my Studio 2015 Freelance license yet in order to take advantage of the 30 day trial version of Studio 2015 Professional. However, if my memory serves me right, there was a limitation on the number of language pairs you could have in the Freelance version, and I think I was even prompted to chose these (or some of these) on first start-up when I first installed Studio 2011. I think it was a total of 5 language pairs or something like that.

Now, Studio 2015 has automatically loaded a sample project with English as its source language and the target languages German, French and Japanese. I don't need any of these language pairs, but I am going to need at least four other ones. Will the sample language pairs stand in my way once I activate my Freelance license? Do I need to somehow remove the sample project, or is there anything else I must do?

  • Thank you, Paul.

It sounds great if I can just pick English and not English (US), English (GB) etc. I don't remember being given this option last time.

But did you edit you answer, actually? In the notification e-mail, your text reads, "But just pick the main languages, so English and not English (US), English (GB) etc. Selecting the main language will get you all the variants but counts as one language." But here in the forum, it now says, "But just pick the main languages, so you can pick English (US) for example and you will automatically get all 60 variations of English. You get all the variants but it counts as one language from the five." I assume the instructions here in the forum should be followed? So if I pick English (US), I also get English (GB) etc.?

Can I add language number five later if I only pick four now?

Do I need to remove the sample project (and if so, how should that be done)?

Yes.  I realised I would mislead you with just English so I corrected it.

Correct.  Just pick one flavour of each language you want and you will get all the rest automatically.

No.  You would have to repair Studio to trigger the new install dialogue again and go through all five again.

No you don't.  But if you don't want it just right-click and remove it from the project list.

    Regards
