Autosuggest from TM not working?

Hello, I just upgraded to Studio 2015 and I'm trying to get the autosuggest feature to work.  As I understand it, the program should be suggesting words to me from my TM as I type, but nothing is appearing as I work on my project.  I have a Termbase activated in the project and those items are appearing as suggestions as I'm used to from Studio 2014, but nothing else.  I have all of the autosuggest options I can find activated, and there's a TM in my project..what am I missing?

  • Hi Stephen,

It might be something as simple as you not having checked the autosuggest option here:

But if it's not that perhaps a quick review of this excellent article from  will shed some light on it for you?

  • I have the same problem, and this "Options" screen doesn't seem to exist on my Trados Studio 2015 freelancer version... can't find the settings you show here anywhere...
  • Hi Rebecca ,

It's in File -> Options and not Project Settings.

  • What I have discovered after using the program for a bit is that I just misunderstood the documentation. It seems the autosuggest won't show you anything unless it finds concordance matches. If it comes up blank on concordance, according to your settings, then it won't show you any autosuggests, even if there are individual words in your TM that are in your segment.

I was under the impression from the documentation that the autosuggest would use your TM as a kind of autosuggest dictionary, showing you lots of individual words if those individual words are also in your segment. But it seems to not be the case, and is tied to the concordance results.
  • It's a bit more than that Stephen, shows fuzzy matches too, but essentially you are correct. Try changing your search settings and you may get more results. 2017 goes deeper and starts to use fragment matching, and can also use this to repair fuzzy matches. So this is more like the feature you expected.

    Regards

  • Hello Paul
I use FL 2015 and have the same problem with an existing project (a website where documents keep being added to be translated). All of a sudden I don't get any suggestions. I haven't changed anything at all. There must be a way to get this back - otherwise what's the point of the TM autosuggestions if they don't pop up and get that typical red line? The quality of my translations will suffer as specific clients have specific terminologies and I have a lot of pressing work. Please please help.
