  • Hi Jane,

Normally this type of error will occur when some change has occurred to the Studio sdlxliff after the file was initially exported, or because of missing tags or added paragraph marks in the Word review document.

If you can't identify this then often the best approach is to export the review file again and then copy paste the target column in the original review file into the new review file. You will lose all traceability of the changes like this but if you make sure you are happy with the content of the review file first then it won't matter.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Paul, my client has come back with the following having looked at the reply you gave.

It is not due to changes in the files - the problems lies within Studio and has been there for many years.

And I do know of the "solution" you suggest, however it is not a possibility, as I must be able to see the changes in order to accept them or reject them. It is vital for me to approve of the reviewers comments.

There have to be another solution to the problem.
  • This problem is quite well know and appears, when:
    - you open the exported file in a Word version lower than 2007 (I would recommend using 2010 or newer)
    - someone changed anything in the file layout (including the width of ANY column)
    - someone applied ANY changes to the first or second column (this includes language settings, applied with tracked changes on)
    - someone changed anything in the file templates

In order tom have NO problems importing such reviewied file:
    - DO NOT apply even the slightest changes to the file layout
    - switch the track changes off, then select first and second column, apply the proper language (source) and switch spellchecking for these columns off
    - select the target column, apply the target language and switch spellchecking ON for it
    - switch track changes on again
    - review the file
    - you may not change the tags (red codes) - neither their appearance nor their order
    - you may not write using the same formatting as the codes
    - you may not enter any line breaks there

If you follow this steps, the reviewed file will import with no problems.
