Import alignment into two TM's

Hi, we have a large volume of already translated documents from the past, which we would like to import into our TM's using the alignment function in SDL Studio 2015.

Is it possible to import the aligned files in both directions into two TM's?

Example: We aligned two documents with "source = fr-BE" and "target = nl-BE". We imported the aligned file into our TM "fr-BE_nl-BE", but would also like to add the inverted language combination (so "source = nl-BE" and "target = fr-BE") into the TM "nl-BE_fr-BE" without having to align the same files again. It seems there is no option to do so.

Could anyone help me with this? Thanks!

  • Hi Dirk,

You can't do this in the same operation when aligning. But you do have two other options open to you that might be interesting.

First, you can export to TMX from your SDLTM and then create a new TM in the opposite direction and import the TMX into it.

Second, you can just not bother with the opposite direction and use AnyTM when adding the TM to your projects as this supports using one TM in both directions.

The advantage of the latter approach is you won't need to keep the TMs in synch as you are always working with one.

    Regards
