Hello Martin,

The other files will only be affected if you have the appropriate option ticked in the settings, AND if you have opened all the files in the Editor together.  If other files are not opened when you make a change in one then there will be no changes in the others at all.

If you want to apply the changes in others then you can change the pre-translation settings in here for example:

Be careful with this though.  Probably best used if you have a Project TM that is very specific to the files you are working on so you don't risk overwriting things you don't wish to change.

Or use the transl;ate to fuzzy option when you open the other files:

This will stop at every segment which is now different in the TM and show this in the TM results window giving you an opportunity to check whether you want to use the changed translation or not:
