Replacing a *.sdlxliff file in a current project in Trados 2015

Dear Collegues,

Today I have been informed by the customer that he has to replace the existing *.sdlxliff file in a current project by another *.sdlxiliff file where have been inserted graphics and other elements. I am working with an existing translation memory and an existing termbase. What is the best way to do this? Can I continue with the current project and only add the new *.sdlxliff file and replace the old ".sdlxliff file or do I have necessarily create a new project.

Thank you in advance

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

If this new one is based on a new source file, and it sounds as though it is, then I'd be inclined to either add it as a new file in the existing project, or create a new Project. Swapping sdlxliff files is usually ok when the source files are the same and it's only the target text that has changed. Swapping sdlxliff files in your situation might also be ok... depends on a few things... but I'd be inclined to play it safe if your customer is not going to send you an updated project or anything like that.

This is really a workaround to the process that manages this sort of thing when the client uses Perfect Match and Project Packages (Studio Professional required for this).

    Regards
