Trados stopped working

Hello, I am using Trados and suddenly it  stopped working aft er opening one potentially problematic file. Now the message says it cannot read an xml document due to an invalid character of a specified encoding at a certain location. After pressing OK, the Tr ados closes and nothing happens thereafter. Now Trados doesn't work at all. I would like an assistance for this matter. Thank you.

  • Hello Koh,

The error message looks like Studio 2015... but it would be helpful if you gave us a little more information, or even attached the error stack that you can find if you click on the little disk symbol in the bottom right of your image.

I reckon a reset will the answer though if you can't start Studio at all.  You didn't mention the version you are using so based on Studio 2015 rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0

    Regards
