Saving target files in Word format

Hi there, how do I save sdlxliff files in Word format in SDL Trados Studio? Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Robert,

The way to save an sdlxliff into a Word file, assuming you mean a fully formatted Word file such as the translated version of the original source, is to use File -> Save Target As, or Shift+F12.

However, if the sdlxliff was created from some other format (Excel, Framemaker, InDesign etc.) then you cannot save this into Word in this way. Also, if the sdlxliff was created using a version of the Word filetype that had been heavily customised or another one that you did not have on your machine then you may also not be able to save the target file.

So a few questions, but I guess you should simply try Save Target As first of all.

    Regards
