Projects gone and cannot be opened

Question

I started my Studio 2015 today and all my projects are gone. What is more I cannot open or create projects. I get a message that the system cannot access a file in AppData as it is being used by another application. Nothing else is open on the computer. I have tried re-installing Studio but nothing is changed. The project I was working on opens in another computer. What happened? How can I fix this. Do I have to re-install Windows?

Let's test the easiest thing first. Can you right-click the Studio start icon and run as admin? Might be a security thing preventing you access to the appdata folder. See if that helps and if it does you probably need to just tweak your security settings somewhere. 
 
If it doesn't then maybe try a Studio reset. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio: 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0 
 
If that doesn't help I'm wondering whether your security settings have changed, maybe with a windows update perhaps? You could try reinstalling Studio, but make sure you do this as admin. So right-click on the installer and choose "Install as administrator."
