I was not able to translate scanned pdf on SDL Studio 11. Is it better to use a converter and upload it to studio? If so, please let me know what converter you recommend the most.

Personally I think Abbyy Finereader is the best. You can use this to OCR the image and then save the result as something that will be translatable in Studio.
